Android - security issues will impede growth in the future

Android market share is growing with breakneck pace. People like the product. My friend was an early adopter of the platform. He in particular was keen on the fact that OS was open source. He said it would help apps ecosystem to grow and added value services. My reply was that it will be easier to hack and break-in, steal data and commit fraud.
