Research In Motion stock is down 20% after missing revenue and sales unit targets. As expected nobody wants to play with PlayBook tablet and instead of selling predicted 550k units RIM has sold just 200k. RIM was expected to ship 12 million smartphone units but has shipped 11. Revenue is down 15% from the previous quarter.
The unfortunate for RIM is that the company has lost mind share. Nobody is discussing the company and its products, at least in a positive way.
If RIM were smart (and they aren't otherwise they would not be in this mess) they would be looking for a buyers. HTC is looking for proprietary platform so are the Korean OEMs. Time to throw in the towel or sink.
