NFC gain support from telecoms worldwide

In my June blog post about NFC I wrote that in near future the adoption by retail industry and consumers will be slow. At least the supply is picking up. Yahoo News reported "The GSMA today announced that 45 of the world's leading mobile operators have committed to support and implement SIM-based Near Field Communications (NFC) solutions and services. These handset and SIM specifications will enable the development and global deployment of secure, interoperable and ubiquitous SIM-based mobile NFC services."
This will deffinetely help adoption but will not help cross the chasm. Retailers still need to see how this will help reduce fraud, increase sales or lower costs. Consumers also need to see benefits they cannot find with the current payments system
