Google quarterly report came out and the new CEO called it “gangbusters” due to huge hike in revenue. I wanted to highlight portion that is interesting to me the most: mobile related. A year ago rumors were saying that Google reached billion dollar revenue from its advertising on Android platform. A year later, Larry Page says “We're also seeing a huge positive revenue impact from Mobile. We have grown 2.5x in the last 12 months to a run rate of over $2.5 billion. Our revenue growth continues to accelerate even in mobile, driven primarily by mobile search”.
Mobile now accounts for 30% of Google’s revenue, which is very impressive. Also some analysts estimate an additional billion dollars is being made by Microsoft from patents. Two years ago Android had 2% market share. How quickly things change …
